Guideline 5: Diagnosis and management of kidney diseases associated with HCV infection

ثبت نشده
چکیده

INTRODUCTION Hepatitis C virus infection has been associated with the development of immune complex glomerular diseases, including MPGN and membranous nephropathy. In addition, HCV infection has been strongly linked with the pathogenesis of cryoglobulinemia. In this context, all HCV-infected patients are at increased risk to develop kidney disease and should be screened annually. In addition, patients with vasculitis or glomerular syndromes of uncertain etiology should be screened for HCV infection as part of the initial evaluation.

Management of chronic hepatitis C virus infection in patients with end-stage renal disease: a review

Infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is highly prevalent in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, mainly in those on hemodialysis (HD). The seroprevalence of HCV in developing countries ranges between 7% and 40%. Risk factors for this infection in the CKD population include the number of blood transfusions, duration of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and prevalence of HCV in HD. Chronic HCV ...

Original Investigation HCV Infection and the Incidence of CKD

Background: The risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection upon incident chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the presence of traditional risk factors and renal-modifying therapy is not well known. Study Design: National cohort study. Setting & Participants: HCV-infected and -uninfected veterans in ERCHIVES (Electronically Retrieved Cohort of HCV Infected Veterans) in 2001-2006. Predictor: HCV infect...

Comparison of HCV Plus-and Minus-Strand RNA in PBMCs of Responders and non-Responders of Chronically Infected Patients Receiving Ribavirin and Interferon Therapy

Background and Aims: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) can cause hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a significant proportion (≈ 20 %) of individuals with chronic HCV infection (CHC). Currently, CHC is treated with peginterferon and ribavirin, which depending on genotype approximately 50 to 70% of patients are cured. The so-called “extrahepatic HCV infection” or viral replication in regio...

Renal pathology in HCV infected patients – Report of 148 patients and review of the literature

Background: Hepatitis C virus infection (HCV) is a major public health problem with a reported incidence of 3 -4 million cases per year. Objectives: Characterize the type of renal disease found in HCV -infecte...

Serum and Urine Level of IP-10 in Patients with HCV infection Based on Clinical and Virological Markers

Abstract Background and Aims: IP-10 molecule is a new biomarker to predict response to treatment in chronic HCV infection. Also urine IP-10 has been suggested as a biomarker in other infections. But already, it has low data in urine as well as serum level of IP-10 for HCV infection. The aim of this study was to assess urine and serum level of IP-10 in patients with type 1 and 3a HCV infect...
